The value of a silver coin is based on a number of different things. These include the condition of the coin and how rare it is. Coins are also valued by how much silver they contain. Although the amount of silver in a coin usually does not have much significance in older rare coins, it can affect new ones. There are some people who are under the impression that they can read a coin catalog and get the value of a coin. However, a catalog or coin guide can only give you a range of prices. It will give you both the high and the low price. Additionally, you also have to make certain that you have an up-to-date version of the guide because coin values fluctuate all the time.

The grading of a coin can make a big difference in its price. Even one grade difference can increase the value of a coin by two or three times. There are different grading systems that can be used and each one has its merits. The method of grading coins most commonly used in the USA is a system that was first established by a man named Dr. Shelby. His method of grading is covered in great detail by the ANA (American Numismatic Association) in their official book, "Official ANA Grading and Standards Guide".

The grade of the coin is based on a number of different factors. The person grading the coin is looking for how much wear and tear a coin has undergone. A mint coin, one that has never been handled will get a much higher grade than one that has scratches and/or is damaged. Grading is an expert field and one that can take years to master. Grading is partly subjective so it is important that you find a person who is qualified to grade coins.

If you actually want to sell a coin, it is extremely important that you have it graded by an expert. The expert grading will give you an accurate value of the coin. When you go to sell the coin, you need to have the paper work. Any serious coin collector will want to have documented proof of the condition of the coin. The expert guarantee is also proof that the coin is genuine and not a piece of junk or a fake. A prospect purchaser may not be willing to pay top dollar for a coin that does not have a guarantee of authenticity.

You may also want to consider your options about where to sell the coin. You may want to sell the coin privately to a collector, and if this is the case, you will need to know the best ways of contacting collectors. You may, on the other hand, decide that you want to sell the coin at an auction. Auctions can be profitable if you go to the right one. However, listing a coin at an auction that sells many different objects may not be the best option. You will normally get a better price if you sell a coin at an auction that only deals with coins and therefore, has the right audience.

Selling silver coins is something that you should do carefully. They are not an item that you should simply list on eBay, at least not if you hope to get the real value for the coin.
